PERSPECTIVE LAUNCH VEHICLE FOR SEA LAUNCH

S 7 STS Company (S7 Space, enters S7 Group of companies) intends to create a plant on production of LV engines NK-33 in Samara, the CEO of S7 Space Sergey Sopov has reported. For creation of the plant, S7 Space plans to buy up production capacities of "United Engine Corporation".

«We would like to buy Russian NK-33 and NK-43 engines which are known around the world and earlier was a product of Samara’s JSC Kuznetsov. We would also like to buy relevant documentation, equipment and technical reserve. In general everything that has remained on this subject from the Soviet program», the CEO of S7 Space has explained. He has added that the company initiative is already discussed in the government.

The cost of rocket engines production renewal is estimated at $300 million, Sopov has said. «We would like to product independently not only NK-33 and NK-43, but also a control system», he has added.

Sergey Sopov specified that construction of the plant and production renewal can take 5-6 years. Before it is planned to use thirty-six NK-33 and NK-43 engines, which are available now. «It allows us to begin flight tests of new LV "Soyuz-5SL" before the start of modernized NK-33 and NK-43 engines mass production», the CEO of S7 Space has explained.

In April, S7 Group of companies closed the transaction on purchase of the property complex Sea Launch and became the full owner of the same name floating spaceport. According to the launch schedule within Sea Launch program, the first launch will take place in December 2019. In total S7 Space plans to provide 70 space launches in 15 years.
